Walk Through: A Fine-Art Exhibition (Featuring Works by Jonathan Green, Jill Hooper and Others)

Beginning again often means stepping into the unknown. It can bring new possibilities, new connections and new challenges. For survivors of domestic violence, that step can carry extraordinary weight.

Walk Through: A Fine Art Exhibition explores the courage, strength and possibility found in those moments of transition through an immersive evening of art centered on Reclamation, Resilience and Renewal.

A Night That Unfolds in Layers

On Oct. 22, My Sister’s House and CINÉ Creative House invite our community to experience that journey in a new way during Walk Through, a one-night immersive fine art exhibition and salon at the Gibbes Museum of Art. 

Join us and move, room by room, through a thoughtfully curated sequence of galleries exploring the universal experience of beginning again, told through three chapters: Reclamation, Resilience and Renewal. 

Chapter 1: Reclamation

Reclamation explores what it means to take something back — a sense of self, a voice, a choice or a vision for what comes next. It is a theme that can take many forms, but one that carries particular meaning in the work of My Sister’s House, where survivors are supported as they pursue safety, stability and lives on their own terms.

Chapter 2: Resilience

Next, begins the process of moving forward. Resilience is not about forgetting or pretending that difficult experiences did not happen. Instead, it’s embracing the strength that allows one to keep moving through those very challenges. One decision, one resource and one day at a time add up.

At My Sister’s House, we see that strength every day in survivors who are navigating legal systems, caring for their children, seeking counseling, finding housing and rebuilding the foundations of their lives. Their stories remind us that resilience can be both powerful and quiet.

Chapter 3: Renewal

Eventually, the journey transforms from overcoming what has happened to what one can become. Renewal does not erase the past. It makes room for something beyond it: greater independence, new opportunities, restored confidence and hope for the future. That possibility is at the heart of Walk Through and the mission it supports.

The Evening at a Glance

Art has a unique ability. It allows us to encounter experiences that may be difficult to explain in words. It can create room for reflection, connection and empathy. That is what makes Walk Through more than an evening at the museum.

Curated by Kacey Gustafson, founder and creative director of CINÉ Creative House and co-produced by event planners, Olivia Niemeyer and Hannah Cassibry, Walk Through explores the universal human experience of beginning.

The evening’s schedule is as follows:

• 6 p.m. | Doors open

• 6:15 p.m. | Champagne toast and welcome

• 6:30 p.m. | Guided exhibition begins; live art salon opens

• 8:30 p.m. | Collective return: remarks, dessert and celebration

Guests will also have an opportunity to turn connection into tangible support.
