Holiday Season 2011

Holiday Activities

Provide an evening meal
Plan and prepare a dinner for clients and children in shelter.  Cook offsite and deliver to our business office.       
Please note:  we will work with you to schedule a date for your meal; however, because we are an emergency shelter, we will not be able to confirm the number of dinners needed until about 48 hours before the scheduled meal.  Shelter capacity is 36 persons so this would be the maximum for any meal.   

Organize a drive for household items or holiday gifts
Mobilize your church, school, neighborhood, or workplace to bring in donations of canned goods, cleaning products, or other household necessities, or to collect gift items for the women and chidlren in shelter.  (See below for Holiday Wish List, or contact us for specific household needs.)

Adopt someone for the holidays
If you’d like to “adopt” one of our adult clients and/or her children, we will match you with someone in need.  You’ll be provided with a list of clothing sizes, interests, etc. to help you shop.  You may include cards on your gifts to identify your family or group.    
 
Organize a fundraiser
Your group may have a great idea for a holiday event or activity to raise funds for My Sister’s House.  Caroling, sports events, bake sales, choirs and concerts, and other such activities can be a fun way to collect donations for us.  If you’d like to discuss organizing a fundraising event, please contact our Administrative Office at 747-4069.
